TEHRAN – Iran summoned the Saudi ambassador Wednesday to protest the recent execution of six Iranian citizens, the foreign ministry stated.

The ministry conveyed Iran's "strong protest" against the "unacceptable" executions, calling them a violation of international law.

The kingdom announced on Wednesday that it has put six Iranian citizens to death under charges of drug trafficking.
